Full animation of Solar eclipse, 25 Oct 2022, 2h 47 min

Post by H-Alpha »

Hi again,

This is what I succeeded so far. I would need too much time to eliminate some minor imperfections and make some further improvements, but it would need much more work.

We were very lucky to have a beautiful sunny day (Vouliagmeni, Greece). :-) :-) :-) Statistically, 72% of the 25 October, it is cloudy...
It is a pity that the sun was much much less active (number and size of solar spots and fast moving prominences), otherwise the spectacle would be amazing. Even so, it is a fantastic event and having it at its full extent in an animation does not occur ...every day. ;-)
I feel very happy I lived this in my life. :-)
Hope you will like it.

Alexandros

That turned out great! The one prom in the NE is at least showing some movement and you got a few surge spikes!

Alexandros,
In addition to the moon moving across the sun there is a lot going on. I first notice a tiny flare SE of AR13126 ejecting a filament. The two proms on the SE limb are spinning and there is quite a bit of movement in the proms on the SW limb with tiny voids opening up, moving and closing up again. The prom on the NE limb shows a lot of movement before and after it is eclipsed by the moon. Filaments move and spicules dance across the disc and on the limb.

This is an impressive piece of work!!

Two thumbs up from me!

James

Wonderful timelapse Alexandros!

I was hoping to be able to do something like this as well, but all I got was clouds!

Thanks for sharing,
Arne

Best regards,
Arne
