Halpha artifacts of ZWO ASI 183 mm in SHG

Post by fulvio.mete »

Has anyone experimented in H alpha SHG scans the grid artifact that often appears in H alpha solar imaging trough ZWO ASI 183 MM camera?
I wanted to buy an ASI 1600 that hasn't such problems, but seems it is in stock only in the cooled version, while the ASI 183 is sold also in non cooled version.
Any suggestion?

Fulvio

I see Mark increasingly uses a 183MM camera so he is in a good position to comment on that. I use the 183MM for SHG and do not see any problems. The small pixels and large sensor size allow a lot of flexibility. I would imagine any H-alpha artefacts would only occur with an H-alpha etalon.

I have no issues with fixed pattern noise with my zwo183mm with Ha, others have had other experiences though.
