Candle in the Wind 11/3/2022
I was torn between this title and Lucifer's Lighter. I think the first title goes well with the B&W image and the other for the colorized version. What a treat this morning when I first slewed to the sun and saw that "needle" extending from the SW limb! And seeing and transparency were quite nice. This is one hour in real time, and I really wasn't sure what to expect when I first started capturing until I saw that it was dissipating quite rapidly. I have no idea how it started out as all of the GONG videos just show it suddenly appearing so I'm guessing it was a fairly eruptive event since after I saw it it did not last long. I still have two more animations of different regions to work on but wanted to get this one out there since I had sent out an alert this morning. Lunt LS60T DS, ASI174MM, Meade 3X TeleXtender for animations. 500 frames captured every 30 seconds, processed in AS!3, ImPPG, and PS. Animations were rotated 90 degrees CCW for viewing.

Re: Candle in the Wind 11/3/2022
What time did it occur? I saw nothing of it between 15:00 and 16:00 UTC when my observations took place. Was it bright enough to be seen in doublestack?

Fantastic work.
I do not look at the sky with the eyes of an astronomer, but of a person looking for the beauty of nature.

Re: Candle in the Wind 11/3/2022
Hi James, this occurred between 13:18 and 14:18 UTC so you just missed it and it was quite visible in DS mode. Stu posted a shot of the prom from 9:30 UTC prior to it growing this tall.DeepSolar64 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 5:13 am What time did it occur?
