Sun in Ha and CaK 3rd November 2022

Post by Carbon60 »

An unexpected clear sky morning and an opportunity to capture some rays in Ha and CaK. FDs are quite solid, but the closer views are a bit dodgy with poor seeing limiting resolution.

First up CaK FDs in mono and colour:

Then over to the red, with some impressive proms and a very tall triangular filament in the south east:

Here's a closer view of the triangular filament on the 150 mm DS scope at f34:

...and the two main active regions:

AR13135

Thanks for looking.

Stu.

Great shots Stu! I notice that really thin prom is evident in your FD image. I started my animation at 13:18 UTC, what time was your FD captured? Just curious how long that spindle was around before it tore itself apart.

Hi Warren,
This is a close view of the prom in question that I took myself at around 09:30 UTC

And the larger prom at around the same time:

That’s great Stu, some event must have really set that prom off!

Hi Alexandra,

Thank you.

Still ongoing, but nearing the end. Should be done by early December (with luck and a favourable wind). I wouldn’t have believed we’d still be in this position if you’d have asked back in April, when the job started…
