Now that I have played with these, it looks like WL is the best to try this with. Ha just has too many features which would be better as an animation than an overlay such as these. CaK isn't too bad to work with but the plage regions change a lot and are much more pronounced for a good overlay. Now I just need about 2 weeks of at least some sucker holes to get a disk with a full transit of some spots! These are from November 6, 7 and 8

Hmm...Nice idea Warren. :-) I think this is how SoumyDeepMuckerGee ( hopefully I have his username right ) does those awesome sunspot rotation images he does over time. Many daily ones combined into a single image. He uses a DSLR I think on WL. If I remember right he won an APOD award on it recently.
