Test of the new assembly Triband 8" - Quark 12.11.

Post by pupak »

The weather was a bit decent today so I tested the new set up. Knowledge :
1. Etalon LS80 and DERF Triband do not go together. The LS80 cannot be tuned to the band at all. I will pre-pass the H-a filter and filter out the other bands.
2. The SC8" telescope provides visibly more detail than the AR150.
3. The F40 focal length is ideal for Quark, but the cameras already struggle with it.
IMX533 in BIN3 fits best.
Attached are the first test images for comparison.

I still have a lot of work to do before the results are good.

A very nice series Pupak. Beautiful setup also: it is fun to tweak the system in order to get the best results.

Nice results Pupak, looks like a promising setup. Personal tastes I would go a touch lighter on the processing particularly on the prom image, but again those are my preferences. Wonderful details you will be able to catch!

Very very nice details but again, I would check the black point clipping as I think you may be losing some of this precious detail as well :bow :hamster:

Thanks for your comments and advice. I'm adding one more picture from Triband and the LS80 etalon itself, supplemented with an H-alpha filter at F10.

I never knew Baader had branded SCTs.

Is it specialized for solar like the AiryLab HaT Celestron SCT is with the ERF coated front corrector.

This is a classic SCT with a coated correction plate.

I think Airylab doesn't do the HaT SCT anymore so this is a great alternative. I have never noticed an SCT in the Sky-Watcher lineup but of course their partner Celestron which is also owned by Synta has them.

Congrats on the new scope, those devices can be great performers. I like the simplicity of the scope design and the versatility of the coating.

Pupac...

These look quite good to my eye :bow

You will just need to fins the best settings and match the processing to make the most of it.
