November 27 2022 Observations. Quick Orion70 WL View.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Today between 16:00 and 16:20 UTC ( Intermittent ) between clouds from a departing system I got a low power ( 25x ) session in using my now back in use Orion 70 WL solar Telescope. Today I am visiting my daughter north of here in Weaverville and did not have much time to set up and observe but did have enough time to set up for a quick white light session. The seeing is poor due to the passing weather system and it's rather windy. The temperature however is a pleasant 58F ( 14.4C )

At 25x using the TeleVue 20mm Plossl I can see six areas on the solar photosphere counting faculae. AR13152 is seen as a divided line of five small spots/pores. Only two close together small spots are easy to see. To the east near the limb I can see some faint faculae. The NW quadrant near the limb shows a single spot among easy faculae. This is AR13149. AR13147 in the SW quadrant is seen as a single spot among faculae. SE of it connected by faculae to it's NW neighbor lies AR13151. It's seen as three spots. A close look reveals the faculae of AR13148 near the SW limb. I see nothing in the SE quadrant and I see no granulation at all on the disc.

Off to Weaverville I go...

James

Thank you for the report, James. The sun is not terribly active at this time.

Nice report James! I had gorgeous skies all through Thanksgiving up at our family celebration but alas no scope with me but it was fine since I had all of my kids, grandkids and total family to keep me occupied!
