November 28 2022 Observations. Relatively quiet Sun.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

My session time was from 16:40 until 17:20 UTC. The skies are partly cloudy. The seeing is varying wildly from just below average to poor. The temperature is 54F ( 12.2C )

Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x, 20x, 25x and 33x ( Ha )
Today I observed nine disturbances in the Ha chromosphere. Five of these are in the northern hemisphere with the KSO images showing two with numbers. The southern hemisphere shows four regions with only one visible with an NOAA label.

AR13152 is seen as an elongated plage straddling the CLM in the northern hemisphere. Two filaments can be seen just to it's NE. An area of light plaginess can be seen just SE of AR13152. Well South to Southeast of AR13152 lie four easily seen filaments. One and part of another lie below the equator in the SE quadrant. A bowed filament in the NE quadrant has a couple of small but visible plages NE of it west of a small wavy filament located there. The NW quadrant shows a plage very near the NW limb. It's the receding AR13149. It will be gone by tomorrow around the limb.

South of the equator in the SW quadrant lies the plage of AR13151 with a spot in it's western side. It too will disappear around the limb very soon. Just NE of AR13151 I can see a smaller fainter plage. South of AR13151 I can see an easy filament with a brightened area beneath it. Another filament is visible near the small plage and well east of AR13151 but still in the SW quad lies an easily seen spindle-shaped filament. A disturbance can be seen south of this filament with a tiny lighter plage just to it's NE of the larger disturbance. Only during moments of better seeing could I pick the small plage up. In the SE quadrant I can see a small plage south of an easy filament. The plage can only be clearly seen during times of better seeing. A filament is seen very near or touching the SE limb.

I nice roughly M shaped prom lies on the SE limb. The two voids under the arches are easily seen as is a bubble at the top-center of the M. Another prom is very close to the north separated from the M structure by a vertical gap. McDonald's is placing the " Golden Arches " on the Sun! Why not, they are everywhere else!!

The discwide network of spicule mottling is seen decently despite the seeing.

Orion 70 Solar Telescope. 25x and 41.5x ( WL )
I can see three spot-bearing regions and two patches of faculae on the WL photosphere. Three in the northern hemisphere with two showing numbers on the KSO images and two in the southern hemisphere with one showing a number designation on the KSO images. However the BBSO image on SolarMonitor shows the patch of faculae south of AR13151 as AR13148.

AR13152 can be seen as a small faint group of five pores on or at the CLM in the north. Ar to the east I can see a faint patch of faculae near the limb. The NW quadrant shows AR13149 as a bright diagonally oriented patch of faculae with a spot at it's western end near the limb.

The SE quadrant shows AR13151 as three spots with the larger one leading. All are surrounded by bright faculae. South of it lies the facular remnants of AR13148. I see nothing in the SE quadrant.

Only during times of better seeing can I see the fine granulation of the solar disc.

Happy Happy...It's Monday again folks. Back to work. :(

James

Mark, it is rather quiet, even in Ha.

Maurits, it's raining here as I type this.
