A disk and 2 animations in poor seeing 12/1/2022

Post by rigel123 »

The wind died down but still only 26F/-3.3C when I started with the sun at 18 degrees above the horizon, but without wind it's doable! Seeing varied from pretty decent to horrid rapidly back and forth and the animations demonstrate this well! A bit of activity at new AR3153 which shows a bit better in the inverted version. Looking carefully just below right of the AR is an eruptive filament that pops up but it was faint. On the NE limb was an interesting floating prom and a surprise surge prom erupts at the base. A few thin clouds began to float through so I cut this one a bit short. Both animations are 45 minutes in real time. I discovered that the starts to move off band with these cold temperatures after a bit of time. The BF heater was working the entire time but you could see the image losing some contrast and brightening. Prom only shots don't show this but the surface really suffers. Pixinsight did a pretty good job of balancing out the change. I'll post a shot of the first frame and the last frame to show the difference over that 45 minute period. Nice to have a sunny day!

Superb. Nice animations.

I do not look at the sky with the eyes of an astronomer, but of a person looking for the beauty of nature.

There are still some nice features - the Filaments look great.

Nice results with the conditions! The temperature here is a couple of degrees above freezing and we're under fog again.
