CaK imaging is always very interesting and somewhat difficult (seeing is sometimes bad in the blue region of the electromagnetic spectrum)

I am sorry to say that, but you are "NEVER" helping "ME" at saving, all the time i tell myself to stay away from solar or any items to do solar imaging then i come to look at your results, no mercy, no comment, just mind and eyes goggling , i just wish and hope to have half of this masterpiece of yours, give me a break please

I am sure he did, with all those equipment and results he has it is hard to believe he never tried visual, i will if i was in his place, and in fact i am thinking about visual, but the usual always common problem is, which eyepiece, i did ask it around here and there and i got a big list and recommendations, so that will wait longer until i am sure.

Tareq,
The eyepieces you use will depend a lot on the scope you are using. Aperture, focal length and focal ratio. And then there are barlows and PowerMates to consider. And we all have our eyepiece preferences and I am sure Pedro has his!

That is exactly what i am talking about, i have a collection of scopes and also Powermates, so that is a big preference to choose any eyepiece, not only with the Quark but for other solar things, so i want to choose wisely, the main or common choice is the Plossls eyepieces which is also for planetary, but even Plossl are wide range to choose from.

Re: Today's SUN (20221128) | Jet Transit
Tareq,
Plossls are most recommended for solar use, especially the TeleVue ones. The only thing I generally dislike about them is the lack of eye relief on them for eyeglass wearers with astigmatism as I have. The TV Delos series also works well and has awesome eye relief but are considerable more expensive than the plossls. Modified Achromats like the Coronado CeMax eyepieces work well too though they too lack eye relief though the 25mm is ok with this. And they are affordable!

Eye relief is very important for me, i have one eyepiece i think 7.5mm i bought cheap, the eye relief is very very small, i hated this eyepiece no mater how good or bad performance quality it is, only because of the ER.
I saw many Plossls cheap around, and i saw few with bigger eye relief with 25/32/40, so i am not sure buying a cheap one will make any regret for quality, i wish if Pedro is suggesting here as long it is his thread here and he is an expert with equipment, i didn't buy more of eyepieces for anything because i want to choose correct wise and careful so i don't end up like some i know with over 20 eyepieces having some out of use or selling some.

The longer FL plossls certainly have better eye relief than the shorter length ones.

Re: Today's SUN (20221128) | Jet Transit
I use mainly zoom eyepieces to observe the sun (WL & H-alpha)
Most zoom eyepieces are great for solar observation (e.g. Pentax, Lunt, Baader)
With the Daystar Quark the best option is a Plossl eyepiece (30 to 40mm)
Hope this helps

Re: Today's SUN (20221128) | Jet Transit
Pedro,
I know some manufacturers make parfocal zoom eyepieces where the focus stays put when you change the magnification. Does anyone make one where the apparent field of view does not change. Many go from say 40 degrees at 24mm to 65 degrees at 8mm. Or is that unavoidable in a zoom eyepiece?
