SW Proms 80 minute animation Up Over uʍop ɹǝpun

Post by Peterm »

Howdy all,

Well after a few days of poor weather in SE Queensland, Australia I was able to find some imaging time.

The winds on our balcony were gusting at 14 knots but the AVX mount did as best it could to hold things steady. The Hinode Solar guider did its job too. This 80 minutes of animation of the SW limb was captured this morning my time December 6th 0702 to 0822am or UT 2022/11/05 21:02 to 22:22. I used my ZWO 432MM with a 5X Powermate.

click on the image to view the animation on my Astrobin page. The first is in glorious Monochrome and the 2nd is an added splash of Color.

I have also included my "Spaceship of the mind" view that wins over my grand daughters interest and also explains what I am doing on our balcony every other morning. Thanks also to some neat NASA imagery of the planets (approximate to scale).

Thanks for looking,

Best,

Peter Marples

Superb animation Peter, looks like some great seeing bringing out such delicate details in that prom! I just checked out GONG and that prom you imaged now has a huge jet on the southern side of the prom towering out of the FOV! And I have clouds and rain all day!

That is a really superb animation, very smooth :bow :hamster: :movie and I can't believe how big Jupiter is, most people only show the Earth so I hadn't thought about it before.

Agree, seeing Jupiter and Saturn up against that prom really gives a sense of just how large that prom is!

Peter,
That's a VERY nice prominence image and the scale of the solar system's two largest planets show how big it and the Sun really are!

Thanks Warren, yes seeing was really good yesterday and goodish this morning but really suffered from the early gusts of wind. I managed one hour on that huge jet area so will see what comes of it soon.

Thanks Alexandra,
yup adding the NASA big planet images really shows off the size of our star and what is happening on there for sure.
