Sun December 10, 2022
Hello all: yesterday a CaH and Ha session in a cold (for me) and sunny day. 34 Fahrenheit and sun elevation 15 degrees. A CaH closeup of AR3153, an inverted Ha mosaic of the most active area and a CaH FD. I am also posting a reduced format animation of some glitch that happened using Firecapture, that I thought was funny.
Clear skies to all,
Franco

Lovely detailed images Franco, despite the cold.
The FC glitch is interesting but reminds us of some sort of video transition effect.

Nice session Franco! I’ve seen something similar to the glitch you posted as well. Sometimes it is a problem and I have to restart things. I’ve always wondered if it was software, camera or cable issues!

Re: Sun December 10, 2022
As long as i really like that Ha solar images very much, i can't blind myself about that Ca K/H as well, it is amazing enough that i ordered the CaK module, and finally they shipped it so it will take a while, i hope i can get really nice results from it, so my question will be, how you and all others getting clean images of the sun without those dust bunnies or distractions happened in the raw captures? I tested my CaK filter with the wedge and it was so full of dust spots everywhere, i even couldn't tell the sun spot from dust spot as much.

Re: Sun December 10, 2022
Many here use flats to eliminate dust bunnies. I have not learned how to do that yet and I often use the clone stamp tool in GIMP to remove them manually though if there is a lot of them it's time consuming and the results often are not as good as I like. The best option is to keep your optics capped when not in use and to keep them as clean as possible. I find that difficult because I use my optics so very often.TareqPhoto wrote: ↑Sat Dec 24, 2022 10:33 am As long as i really like that Ha solar images very much, i can't blind myself about that Ca K/H as well, it is amazing enough that i ordered the CaK module, and finally they shipped it so it will take a while, i hope i can get really nice results from it, so my question will be, how you and all others getting clean images of the sun without those dust bunnies or distractions happened in the raw captures? Taking flat frames is so easy to do, because i do DSO imaging so flat is very important there, i can do the same for solar imaging, but i still don't know how to use it in processing for solar, definitely i will learn how somehow.
I will try to keep my optics clean, and they are all or always capped when not in use, but i live in a kingdom of dust here so no matter how careful i am they find a way to my glasses, so i am sure i will clean more often, but i want to have ways to get the results clean anyway, hopefully it won't turn out as a headache and "Day"mare to me.

Keeping them clean in a desert environment would be really difficult and then there is the threat sand/dust scratching the optics.

I am not in desert, but my country is dusty in general, but i can't keep dust away no matter, i might clean today and dust will get in the next time imaging, so as long i do imaging all the time dust will be there, in fact my Antlia Wedge was full dusty from the first time use.DeepSolar64 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 4:03 pm Keeping them clean in a desert environment would be really difficult and then there is the threat sand/dust scratching the optics.

Well, i can't wait to use the new gear i ordered once they arrive beside the Quark i have, i hope i can image the sun quickly these days before the summer, i will try to keep them shiny and clean as possible.
