M3.7 Flare at AR3176 from GONG images 12/30/2022

You may have heard (or seen) about the large M3.7 flare that occurred in AR3176 at 19:39 UT on 12/30. Although the frames were not very sharp, it showed well on the Cerro Tololo Chile site so I grabbed some frames to make the animation below. That was quite the eruption in a very short time!

Very nice Warren!! The GONG CTIO instrument must have had bad seeing conditions blurring the image. It’s still good enough to show the powerful flare though.
