27 minutes to image 1/9/2023

And I'll take it! I met my brother and his wife for lunch yesterday as they were driving home and it was cloudy when we entered the restaurant. When we came out 1 hour later there was not a cloud in the sky! Of course it was already mid afternoon so I set up the Port-A-Mount II and caught the sun in 3 wavelengths. At the time I wasn't aware that I had just missed the big blast by about an hour! These shots were taken between 19:27-19:54.

Thanks Alexandra, Bill and Maurits! We can keep our fingers crossed Alexandra! I actually do have a capture of an X1 flare from 7/3/2021 but no where near as dramatic as this last one!

I also observed an X-class flare on the limb a while back. Catching an X-class takes a bit of luck and the more time you spend behind a scope the better your chances.

And Warren, you can REALLY image!!

There is an X1 flare past max now. And the sun has set. Hopefully someone catches it here.
