20th Jan 2023 Sun images

Post by JohnW »

20th Jan. A clear day but a rough atmosphere made it difficult to image the sun well. The first image is at 540 nm to show the sunspots. The dominant regions are AR 3190 and AR 3192.
The other 3 images are at Halpha wavelength (656 nm) to show the chromospheric features.
All images are single exposures with a Canon 550d.
Thanks for viewing.

Nice work John - so much to see in WL & Ha. Hoping for the large Filament to lift off over the weekend!

Well done John, the Canon 550d seems to be a good working camera.

Excellent shots John! Knowing they are single shots, do you take a burst of shots and cull out the best in the series?

Thank you all for your comments.
Reply to Warren (rigel123)... no I just take frames one at a time not in bursts. On average I take 3 shots spaced apart at 540 nm for the sunspots and use the best one, and up to 6 for the Ha shots of different sectors spaced apart.
Cheers, John W.
