January 19 2023. SUNocular Observations.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

The short session was a few minutes around 17:45 UTC. The skies are mostly cloudy and the temperature is 57F ( 13.8C )

Lunt 8x32 SUNoculars. ( WLC )
I can see six active regions on the white light photosphere today. Three in the northern hemisphere and three in the southern hemisphere. All NOAA number labeled.

The AR13191-AR13192 complex in the NC-NW shows a combined six visible spots in these small binos! AR13186 in the NW quadrant shows two spots. An easier one with a more difficult one to it's NE. I tried for a couple of small spots in the NE quadrant but never could make them out.

I see AR13184 in the SW quadrant as a single spot. AR13190 at or close to the CLM is seen by it's large very easy spot. With some difficulty I can also see a couple more small spots just to it's SE. AR13194 to the SW of AR13190 can be seen only as a single tiny spot.

Hopefully tomorrow the weather and time will allow me to use the scopes.

Seize the Day!

James

P.S. The first view approximates the SUNocular view.

I actually got out for a quick session earlier when skies cleared prior to the storms that are supposed to arrive. Crazy wind though so just grabbed some quick images in 3 wavelengths though. Will post a bit later. Warm up here too, 60F.

Nice report James, the sun is nice and busy! It's supposed to be sunshine on saturday for me, so i'm determined to get out and get the first proper observations of the year in if things go to plan. Fingers crossed!
