Warm and breezy on the 17th! 1/17/2023
58F/14.4C yesterday with brisk winds! So much so that I turned around to change scopes and a gust blew over my computer "garage", table and laptop! Luckily it caught on the mount so never hit the ground and everything was intact but think I'll stay out of 25mph winds next time! Seeing was decent though so after an hour of catching the activity that departing AR3182 was popping I grabbed some white light and a full disk in CaK. I also learned, don't apply auto flats when you are imaging the limb. You'll see the dancing arches in the black sky in the animation but didn't want to clip the sky since it would have hidden some of the nice plasma flows as well as some coronal rain falling into the AR. Quite a few pauses as well due to clouds racing through the FOV. Ha/Lunt LS60T DS, WL and CaK with Orion ED80T and Lunt Wedge and CaK BF1200.
Also, although I don't see a report of a flare around 16:00 UTC take a close look at AR3192. It looks like a flare possibly.
WL Full Disk WL Closeup of AR3190, 91, 95 and 92 WL full spread of spots! CaK Full DIsk Ha Full Disk Inverted Close up of the SE Quadrant with AR3190, an interesting "M" feature and the large filament (Two panel mosaic) Inverted Animation of SW Limb with AR3182

Re: Warm and breezy on the 17th! 1/17/2023
Warren,
These images are all really nice and very informative. White light has especially been really nice lately with all the spots on the photosphere. Yours look really good here!
I was under an overcast sky yesterday and so far it's the same for me today. I haven't been able to use Slooh either. It's raining at the Teide observatory where their little Lunt 60 is located.
Thanks for keeping me informed.
James

Thanks James, these are definitely some of the better WL images I have gotten lately, I'll chalk it up to better seeing.DeepSolar64 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 5:32 pm Warren,

Nice work Warren. Wow lucky you didn't lose your lappy! Maybe anchor the table legs down with some weight lifting weights? The images are great, really like your white light stuff and must get around to it one day. The animation is really good in showing the faint stuff. I notice it appears to have one of those dancing pixels? that I had, but haven't seen recently in my images. Could it be from the processing to bring out that faint rain and loops like you haves so well?

Great shots and animation, Warren. I have experience with those days when you have to hang on to the equipment…

Re: Warm and breezy on the 17th! 1/17/2023
Thanks Peter! I typically brace the table with some heavy chairs when I know the wind may be an issue but this gust caught me by surprise! It is simply designed for holding a laptop so pretty small. I like it since the legs come off and store in the table so I can pack the whole thing in a briefcase to travel with. The seeing definitely helped with the white light images. I didn’t even notice that dancing pixel, had to search the image for it! I may take a dark frame and reprocess the file to see if that removes it.Peterm wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 2:26 am Nice work Warren. Wow lucky you didn't lose your lappy! Re: Warm and breezy on the 17th! 1/17/2023
Nice shots Warren. Wind has caught my laptop a few times now and took it away, couple times nothing but a few chips in the body, one time detached the screen from the body; fortunately a new interface cable and some gaffer tape between the two halves and it is working fine, indeed is what I am typing on now...

Thanks Mark! Wow, I have been lucky! Both times the wind has tipped over my setup either the mount or a chair caught everything before the computer got flung out onto the ground!
