Violently active prominence animation. 29 Jan 2023

Post by minhlead »

It was some time since I posted things here. Recently it's the Lunar new year's eve which took all of my attention and time preparing for the far east's biggest festival of the year. Just recently have free time on holiday and the clear sky (extremely rare this time of year in Northern Vietnam) to image. And voila, a tree-like prominence swaying under invisible magnetic breezes. Is it a good omen for a more active, clearer year of 2023? I certainly hope so! Happy Lunar new year to everyone!

Superb.

A stunning capture! :bow

It is fascinating how the "clouds of smoke" behave completely differently to Earthly expectations.

Wonderful catch and animation Minh! I assume this is the prom on the NW limb? I was watching this on GONG this morning at the Cerro Tololo site and it has now stretched further southward. Bummed that our weather isn’t cooperating!

Minh,
Is this the NW limb prom? I viewed it yesterday and it closely resembled this. It’s nice to see it in motion. Proms are so beautiful and you captured this one excellently.

Happy Lunar New Year.

James.

Thanks Eric,
Thanks Peter, IIRC you have an animation at roughly the same time of the same target?
