Hello again & sun full disk H-alpha 2 Jan 2023

Post by vineyard »

Hello,

Life got v busy these last few months, and I haven't had a chance to do much observing or imaging or browsing. I think its still going to be hectic so I'm not sure how regularly I will be able to check on here, so apologies in advance for any slow or intermittent responses. It has been nice to see folks continuing - hope everyone is well - & of course the great imaging and tinkering (aren't the SHG videos on Youtube so intriguing?).

Anyway, here are two brief FD images that I did manage to capture on 2 Jan 2023 & eventually process this month. It's all v rusty, but it was v nice to see old Sol still come through.

Cheers all,

Vin

Nice full disks Vin.
Can you or someone direct me to the SHG videos? I can’t find them.

We think that they are talking about the Sol'Ex SHG which is very popular and there is a kit of bits available and you 3D print the rest.

Thanks all for the kind feedback & warm welcome back - much appreciated :)

Yes that is the Youtube channel I was talking about Averton, thanks for linking that. I'm also following Rainer's thread on his SHG with interest.

I did manage to capture & process some more data on two other sessions this last fortnight, which I will post separately. I even managed to do a short visual session today in HA - it was v nice, I think I saw an Earth orbiting satellite move across the face of the sun (a small black dot moving v fast in a clear straight line) and there was a v bright spike on the edge of the solar disk that changed in real time, as well as a v stable large wall prom about 90 degrees from it.

Cheers all.
