Thanks Pedro, do you have any tips in Photoshop as I don't have Pixinsight?

I processed in DeepSky stacker but I have such a huge light pollution wash I don't know how to get the comet out of the background :(

Hi Alexandra

With PixInsight you can do it, but it is not a simple task. Check out the video

best regards

It's nearly impossible to pull out nice details in a comet when you are battling light pollution since the dimmer portions of the comet are going to be the same as the sky brightness background. So with comets anymore I'll either just go for the coma if using a telescope or use my DSLR for a wide field view with an interesting background. I have found DeepSky Stacker to do a decent job of aligning the comet but still had a devil of a time trying to pull the dimmer portions out of the background. In those cases I would get creative like this one of Catalina from 2016

And then this one of Comet Iron from 2013 in which I used Deep SkyStacker to align the comet and you can see what I had to do in PS to pull out any of the tail.

Pedro,

Thanks for posting this! My wife is delving into PixInsight for our E3 ZTF images and we will watch this with great interest.

Kevin

PS - what's the music on the video?
