March 15 2023 Imaging. NNW Prominences

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Today's session was from 15:20 until 16:25 UTC. The skies are clear but the seeing is below average. The temperature is 44F ( 6.6C ) at 16:00 UTC. The scopes used are the Coronado SMII90 in SS & DS and the Celestron 102 with the Altair wedge and 540nm Baader filter. The PGR Grasshopper camera with the MacBook Pro and ASTRO IIDC and GIMP.

Here are the images.

The big NNW prom looks like a ragged spruce or fir tree!!

James

Thanks and welcomes everyone. The prom ones were certainly my favorites today. I think the tattered look to it may be the result of the prominence spinning like a tornado.

James

P.S. And Warren that B&W shot was my favorite too!!

James: these are great images ! All beautiful but the one that really struck me is the B&W of the tall prom. That is exceptional, you captured it in all of its beauty and detail.

Thanks Franco. I was well satisfied with the prominence and white light images but not so much with the Ha disc images. I just have so much trouble getting the doublestack system to tune evenly and have even illumination across the disc. Imaging is more critical of this than visual is and when I use curves or increase the contrast it makes it more obvious. It's very frustrating. I tend to do better when imaging in singlestack on the disc.

I thankn and welcome everyone for their comments.

James

Thanks Mark. I was satisfied with the 540nm and Ha prom images but not so much the Ha disc ones.

James.
