Orion Nebula

Post by H-Alpha »

Hi all,

Hope you are all well.

As promised in a previous message, here are the results of my recent capture of Orion's nebula. Amazing beauty in the sky!
Although I have not yet received the reducer/flattener of Lunt130MT, which would give a wider frame and better stars in the corners, I could not loose the 'winter opportunity' and miss Orion for one more year...

Image2023-3-14, M42 Orion & NGC 1977 Running Man Nebulas, 62x10 & 58x60 sec, Lunt130MT, ASI2600 framed by H- Alpha, on Flickr

Hope you like it.

Best wishes,
Alexandros

So the Lunt really can work at night! I don't actually see many night-time images with Lunt's even though the new ones can. Was this done with a OSC camera or monochrome with filters?

Thanks. This was with an OSC and no filters. I used the ASI2600 that I bought recently and like a lot. :-)

I enjoy using the Lunt130Mt at night, although when I use it this way, I rarely change it for solar the very next day, or the opposite. Especially when I have not finished the process, because I may need to make more night captures without moving the camera. However, if someone wish to do so, it is not really difficult.

All the best,
Alexandros

Alexandros,

That's a fantastic result! Did you use PixInsight for the processing?

Yes! Only PixInsight. I now have my workflow for OSC and another for HaOO.
I am very happy as you and your wife I suppose that I start to feel comfortable with this difficult software. :-)

All the best,
Alexandros

A superb capture and processed image Alexandros and just proves that the Lunt large scopes are excellent along with that camera.

Seeing those exposure-times are a useful guide for this bright-nebula, so thanks for sharing your work.

Your words are so nicely describing the variety and contrast that human eyes (through sensors) can perceive and the feelings created by looking at this fantastic nebula!
:-)

Best wishes,
Alexandros
