Western Limb Prom Animation 3/20/2023

Post by rigel123 »

Good to be home, with a clear sky and no clouds and decent seeing! As soon as I got the sun in the FOV I noticed the great proms on the Western Limb and ended up capturing 75 minutes before seeing really went downhill. Some wonderful action in both proms with a fairly eruptive event in the prom on the left. Image has been rotated 90 degrees CCW for viewing. Lunt LS60T DS/ASI174MM/Meade 3X TeleXtender

It is fantastic animation.

Warren,
Though I forgot to include it in my post I did see this prominence today on the western limb. I did notice that it was largely detached from the disc and I could see some striations within it. Overall the prom was quite faint in doublestack.

Your animations are stunning. Look at the coronal rain!!

Two thumbs up!! 👍🏻 👍🏻

James.

Warren,
Did you image AR13258 today? It had a bright beautiful cracked etched pattern, no doubt caused by flaring. It was the most noticeable thing on the disc at the time I observed. Around 15:30 UTC.

Yes, but no animation. I’ll get to those images tomorrow and I did notice a long, flaring area.

This is one of the most complex, dynamic prominences I have seen. The eruptive up flow of bright plasma is spectacular. Well captured Warren. Bravo!
