Filaproms in Ha 14th March 2023

Post by Carbon60 »

I tried to capture some images this morning in Ha on my 150 mm refractor at f34, though I had to be quick because there was only a small patch of blue coming my way between the wintry showers here. I probably shouldn't have bothered, as the seeing was awful and nearly all of my 'snaps' were only good enough for digital heaven. One did survive, which I've posted here in mono and colour, but I've had to do a lot of processing to get something half decent. The format may not be to everyone's taste :)

Hi

I had a 2 hour session this morning.

Those proms were very nicely presented for me.
The animal sheep/dog was a fluffy collection for me.
The little squat pyramid was bright and more of a silouette.

On the chromosphere the was a nice log curving prom and just a small scattering of bright features.

Cheers. Andrew

That's beauty. You will do very well.

I do not look at the sky with the eyes of an astronomer, but of a person looking for the beauty of nature.

You can tell the seeing was very poor but your images turned out very well for the conditions, Stu.

WoW, Stu. These are fine. Yeah, the seeing takes away a bit of the sharpness but they still look good. I would have been happy with these. You must think mine suck.

That 150mm refractor gets in close!

Was this a single frame capture?

Resolution suffered some, but plenty of structure visible, especially at the foot points. I did not see the prominences (only rain and clouds here) but I suspect there were threads connecting the smaller prom to the main prom. Good stuff.

Cheers!

Seeing was clearly not supporting this aperture, but you still go away with a very nice result!

Thanks, Mark.

Getting frustrated with the weather here, and this week doesn’t look too promising either.
