March 25 2023 8x32 WL SUNoculars

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Today it rained all morning clearing out just before local noon ( 16:00 UTC ) Being in a hurry to leave for dad's I did not have the time to set the scopes up so I used the little quick 8x32 Lunt SUNoculars. The temperature at 16:00 UTC is 68F ( 20C )

I can see eight active spot regions on the photosphere! Three in the northern hemisphere, all labeled and four, maybe five in the southern hemisphere with four being labeled.

The newly labeled AR13264 near the NE limb is visible as a difficult spot. But it is visible with certainty. AR13260 is visible with an easy spot on the CLM. Just SW of it is a tiny spot. I think it's a dipole spot but I do wonder if it could be separate. AR13258 can be seen as a single small spot in the NW quadrant.

I can see the three-lobed active region complex of AR13256,57 and 59 now in the SW quadrant. AR13256 is a very easy spot in the SW side of the complex. ENE of it lies AR13257 which is seen as a mere fuzzy spot at the middle of the complex. AR13259 lies to the north of AR13257 and appears as a single spot. The SE part of the group shows two spots. One of these is quite easy. They are close together. Are these a dipole of AR13257 or a separate system? They certainly look distinctly separate in the SUNoculars. AR13262 is seen as an easy spot in the SE quadrant.

I'll take the Coronado 60 and the SUNoculars to dad's as a travel kit.

Carpe Lumen!

James
