Hello everyone,
always such a bad sky here, but I insist again and again, I'm crazy.

Excellent time lapse Paul. You've got a few planes in your neck of the woods!

Fantastic animation.

Nice video Paul !

We can see penombral waves on the big spot :-)

Incredible details. First time ever that I see that kind of waves (like shockwaves ? ) around a sunspot. It is something that I completely ignored before your captures.

Well resolved counter streaming in the filament, running penumbral waves, and the waving bright points on the ends of the over laying fibrals radiating from the sun spot penumbra. Seeing was variable, but amazing fine structure is well resolved. Bravo! Was this recorded with the 150mm or 200mm aperture instrument?

Cheers!

Hello everyone ,
it's done with the 200mm + the Pst modification.
pity that the quality of my sky is not up to the resolution of the lens

I sped up the movie to highlight the magnetic waves around the spot more

Image

I slowed down the film to highlight more the pchitt in the stain, but also a lot of artefacts due to the processing and the very uneven transparency due to the traces of planes

Can you share how many frames you are capturing for each AVI/SER and the cadence of your captures? :D

oriolestation wrote: Mon Mar 27, 2023 4:27 pm Can you share how many frames you are capturing for each AVI/SER and the cadence of your captures? :D

my .SER movies are 500 frames every 30 seconds , 340 SER kept 296 , but as you can see, I have a problem with frame acceleration .
I used a PC which becomes less and less efficient this time, the modification Win7 to W10 only brings me problems

it's I think it's the loading time that does this or my ssd problems which for a certain time support the normal speed (+200MB/s) on recording and which after a certain times start at 150MB/s and end at 50MB/s on a shot of 500 images, which lengthens the shot interval. I just checked the beginning is 3 - 6 - 9 (~30s interval) the end 1-9-7 (almost ~1mn interval), that's why I timestamp normal videos, there it is partial, it did not take the timestamp which is in a corner of the images), this also happens when I remove the images because of the clouds, the wind or that I am with the ssd full and that I appear in the corner before changing it

excuse me for my very rough english

I think this phenomenon is known as Alfven waves. Excellent capture of them, Paul. Two thumbs up! This is a great example where animations are superior to stills!!

I have that problem with my laptop as well - I assume it's because it's a very old Windows 7 machine. I don't think it will even support a W10 upgrade, so probably about time to look at something new.

The reduced speed movies of penumbral waves are outstanding. VERY informative. Despite the variable seeing conditions the waves are well defined. Bravo!! And, thanks for reworking the videos.

Oh, and by the way.... Never apologize for your skills with a second (or more) language. The vast majority of us have our hands full dealing with our native language.

I think your magnifications shows them very clearly ! very interesting phenomenology, You really need an high quality animation to observe them. Very elusive thing
