Heads up - pre-Meade Coronado 90mm etalon for sale

Post by Highbury Mark »

These things don’t come up very often - for good reason. Owners don’t sell them. An Isle of Man Coronado 90mm etalon with BF30 blocking filter is for sale on U.K. site (ENS Optical) - £3,000. They have a good reputation as a seller of used astronomy gear, though their prices are usually high. This seemed to me to be fairly priced if it’s typical of the Isle of Man solar filters. Thought someone on Solarchat might be interested?

Very interesting!
It would be nice for double stacking a lunt 100mm!

Very nice! How do those etalons perform? Very contrasty I guess with a triple stack.

yes, filaments are pure black, and proms around the disk are still bright enough.
In fact, I have 2 generations of BF30, on one the ITF is removable, not on the other.
I have replaced the original ITF, too dim, by a 2" beloptik KG3 anti UV-IR, and the sun is bright, standing in a pure dark sky :bow

Stay tuned, in 2 weeks we are trying a quadri stack :D
