Ca-H, H-alpha, H-beta spectroheliograph images -- May 21

Post by thesmiths »

Here's a mosaic of three wavelengths taken on May 21 using my 106mm aperture spectroheliograph (SHG). Click on the image to see at higher resolution. To see full details, open the image in a new tab (each disk is around 3000 pixels in diameter).

Ca-H, H-alpha and H-beta SHG images, 21 May 2023. 106mm aperture, 720mm focal length.

I especially find the Hb image very interesting since it's a wavelength not so commonly imaged. It looks quite similar to Ha. At 486nm the color of Hb would be a teal blue. Put that with 656.28nm Ha red and you will get the beautiful magenta-pink color of the chromosphere as seen during a solar eclipse!

Nicely done on all!!

James

Good work. Superb detailed FD.

Pedro,
I would love to see what you could do with a SolEx!
