Ar13310 Ha 152mm f24 - 21st May
Playing catchup here, both on the forum and also with my processing. Managed to get a decent run of imaging in on Sunday and despite hazy skies the seeing wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. I think this is one of my favourite images with my (secondhand) new 152mm f5.9 frac, coupled with the TZ4, solar spectrum 0.3a and the imx174 camera. The focuser on this scope is saggy, but i'm hoping I can do something about that.

Hopefully get round to processing some more shots later on this evening.
Hope you like.

You’re going to have a lot of fun with that setup, Mark. That’s a cracking image there, mate.

Fantastic detailed picture. Great setup.
I do not look at the sky with the eyes of an astronomer, but of a person looking for the beauty of nature.

That is a fantastic image and appears to be a nice set up. What brand of scope and focuser?

Re: Ar13310 Ha 152mm f24 - 21st May
Thanks guys for the kind words!
The scope is a Altair Astro 152/5.9 frac - I bought it second hand off flea bay, it is the same as lots of branded same size scopes, with the optics coming from United Optics in China.
The focuser on it is a 'No Name' - rather basic and agricultural (stealing Darrens phrase) - i'm going to do a strip down on it over the weekend and see if I can improve things, but it won't solve the issue. With the TZ4 (screwed in via the m68 fitting) there is a large amount of sag once you factor in the weight of the solar spectrum, fittings and camera.
You can see on the image how the CWL across the image varies from left to right - definitelty on band on the left, drifting blue to the right of the image - that is the impact of sag on the etalon.
Once i've done a full dismantle and know what fittings I have to play with i'll do a look around on the web for a replacement. I thought I would need to replace the stock APM focuser on the back of my 100/800 LZOS scope, but this has proved to be brilliant, with zero sag at all with the same TZ4/solar spectrum setup, so that might be somewhere to look...
I'm using a full aperture Baader DERF on the setup, but want to get something else as secondary energy blocking, I don't want the solar spectrum damaged...
Hoping to get more images soon!
Mark
