Sun images from Melbourne 26 May 2023
The forecast was not good but there was some sun before it clouded over today. There were a few clouds drifting through during the session. It was great to see the progression of the many sunspots.

Well done images and full disks. That 3310 sunspot changed its shape quite a bit over the course of time.

Very nice set of photos.
I do not look at the sky with the eyes of an astronomer, but of a person looking for the beauty of nature.

Clare & Peter,
I really love your evenly illuminated and evenly tuned Ha full discs. That's always a challenge for me, especially in double stack.

Re: Sun images from Melbourne 26 May 2023
Hi James,
Flats are really easy to both make and use for Ha.
Unlike DSO flats that require an illuminated flat screen, all you need for solar is a plastic bag.
Marty has done an excellent tutorial video on capturing flats
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7rSOXWQDZM
Depending on your capture software, you can use your flats while capturing your actual images (FireCapture).
In our case, we apply the flats when stacking using AS!3 which is easy to do.
We made this video for someone on CN which you might find useful.
Just right click on the video and select full screen when you play it.
https://www.cloudynights.com/gallery/im ... s-example/
As you see in the video, the dark vignetting in the lower right corner disappears when we apply the flat.
Hope this helps.
Clare & Peter

Thanks, Clare & Peter. I think AviStack has a setting to apply flats either in stacking or post processing. I'll have to look.
