Solarmax 40 and Baader H Alpha 35mm CCD filter

Post by Moriniboy »

Morning all,

Just after some advice re the use of this filter in a Solarmax 40mm.

As the erf in the diagonal has rusted its now been removed, and I'm intending to use the H Alpha filter behind the internal objective (see photos) is there anything else I need to be aware of?

I have flipped the filter so the metallic face is at the front.

Thanks for your help.

You mean you expect replacing the itf (and not erf) from the diagonal with this ha filter?

Visually it is dangerous!
Even if baader 35nm is similar to the erf that are not blocking ir as good as itf!

If itf is rusted then ask m’aider or beloptik for replacement!

The rusted ITF filter should only be replaced with the Maier ITF replacement filter, the BelOptik ITF replacement filter, or the BelOptik UV/IR block on KG3 filter.

Hi,

You are mixing up things. ERF's do not rust but as others alreadyd said it is the ITF or blocking filter which is a completely different thing.

For Visual use this is dangerous, for photographic use it would be OK.

BTW, the ERF on your 40mm is the red glass on the front..
