What is the longest time a sunspot has lasted?

Post by Solarscout »

What is the longest time that a sunspot has ever lasted in recorded history? Has it ever gotten smaller, about to disappear and then grown in size again for more rotations around the Sun? Or do sunspots typically only become small to large to small and fade away?
