A visual demonstration of what a blocking filter is good for.

Post by pupak »

When replacing the camera, I forgot to put on the blocking filter and I was quite pleasantly surprised by the result.
Today I had to take the giraffe out to enjoy some sun too. :)

I'm quite curious as to what I actually shot. A relatively wide spectrum of narrow spikes passes through the etalons, which the camera collects and displays some pseudo white light. But DERF only lets in a limited part of the white light, so what I'm seeing is some weird spectral slice.
But it shows the resolving power of the 200/F10 Lichtenknecker mirror very well. It's a monster, but it draws great and the AR150/F24 doesn't provide that kind of detail.
