May 26 2023 Ca K closeups SS and DS
Hi all,
today I decided to make Ca K DS from two available standard Lunt filters, putting them close to each other with a little tilt, and compare it with SS. The resulting images were a bit dark, but acceptable. The noise level of 174 camera in the DS was normal to stack 100 frames. Fibrils began to appear in the dipole and penumbra area, and reverse granulation became more contrasting. I made the lighter SS images look like DS using the hdr Ps plugin, for comparison. The seeing was Ok for full aperture.
Setup: 120/1000, TV 5x, ASI174, Lunt1800 and Lunt600

Leo,
These are really nice. The supergranulation is very easy to see. The images are sharp with nice contrast too.

Stunning images Leo and interesting comparison of ds and ss.
DS really seems to be worth upgrading to. How do you tilt the filters?

Fantastic results Leo! Would you mind sharing more details about how you made a double stack with two Lunt CaK filters?

Re: May 26 2023 Ca K closeups SS and DS
Thank you all, very appreciated!
I'm curious to make measurements of filters, also B600 i have is quite old and the band could migrate significantly
see the picture below
sorry for belated answer
Leo
I was inspired by your recent CaK SS/DS tests

I take the only 2.4A B600 filter from the second Lunt CaK and put it right next to B1800. As it was only the first test, I connected it with a flexible rubber gasket that could be tilted and seen in live mode on the screen.
