June 2 2023 Imaging. Clear skies, Finally!!

Post by DeepSolar64 »

This morning I imaged between 15:00-15:30 UTC using my C102 with the Altair wedge and Baader 540nm filter and the Coronado SMII90 SS at 656.28nm. The camera used is the Point Grey Grasshopper Firewire camera ran on my MacBook Pro 17" High Sierra laptop. ASTRO IIDC is used in image acquisition and the editing/processing is done in PhotoShop CC2020 and GIMP. The skies are clear with seeing a bit below average. The temperature is 75F ( 23.8C )

I am feeling fine today. I had a little bit of dizziness just after I got up but have been fine since. It looks like I will be going to work today.

Happy Friday !! :hamster:

James

James, your WL is awesome! In Ha, I would play around a bit with the etalon settings. I wish you to get well and have no health problems, my friend! Take care of yourself!

Doublestack always gives better contrast than singlestack does. I however always struggle with uneven tuning and illumination when imaging in doublestack. In singlestack I can at least get an even disk even if the contrast is lower.

Yes, you're right, I didn't take into account that you were shooting with SS. Messing with DS takes time. I am familiar with your difficulties, I often also compromise with uniform illumination of the frame against better contrast. In any case, your photos are wonderful!

How sweet. Get her into solar if you can. Girls are so smart and attentive. More attentive than most boys it seems these days. On average they are beating boys now in school, at least here in the States.

In Kindergarten girls and boys are more evenly matched physically . That changes in their teens, on average. Tell her I said " Congratulations "!!

These are excellent images James! You have the tuning on that Ha scope perfectly even there. You should 'clock' the position of the etalon relative with a sharpie, then you can return to it quickly. I have done this with my sm90.
