G-Band full disc

Post by Rob63 »

Turns out I had enough data to do a full disc @ 430nm
29th May ~ 9:30am, seeing wasn't great so not my best work but I am convinced this is a real step forward for WL imaging.

Love it ... :cool:

I'm very tempted by that filter but it's only an 1-1/4" and I couldn't get it to work with my modified 2" Barlow so I'd have to fork out on another decent Barlow as well etc , etc ... :mad:

I have it on the nosepiece of the camera (and have used it on the eyepiece as well) so it's positioned after the wedge and barlow
Scope -> wedge with ND 0.9 -> barlow -> G-Band filter -> camera

I'm using a DSLR for my discs and have modified my 2" Barlow down from 2x to get the biggest disc on the chip and the Oiii filter I currently use sits on the front of it , 2x clips top and bottom.

So I'd need to find an inch and a quarter Barlow that I can mod in a similar fashion , the G-band would go straight on the Altair 174Mono camera I have but that would in turn entail mosaics for full discs which is too much faffing about for me ... :lol:

Hah, where's your sense of adventure, it's as if you don't like getting really frustrated and tearing your hair out trying to fit multiple panels together seamlessly :D

I'll stick with grabbing my discs in one hit thanks all the same , I really don't have the patience or attention span that you obviously have ... :lol:

You certainly have more contrast on your faculae using your 2nm filter vs my 10nm one.
