June 8 2023 Observations. 540nm PhotoSphere.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

My session time was from 14:49 until 15:30 UTC. The skies were partly cloudy with hazy blue-white skies between cumulus clouds. The seeing at the beginning of the session was a bit above average but fell rapidly to just below average by session's end. The temperature was 66F ( 18.8C ) at 15:10 UTC.

A can see twelve active regions on the photosphere today. Seven in the northern hemisphere with KSO showing Six with NOAA labels. Five can be seen in the southern hemisphere with four being NOAA labeled on the KSO imagery.

AR13329 is an easy dipolar spot group in the NE quadrant. The eastern spot is an irregular structured one with a group of small spots sharing a tattered penumbra just to it's west. The western leading spot of the group is better formed showing an umbra with a northern protuberance. I can see some mottling within the penumbra, especially on it's eastern side but I cannot see the tiny embedded pores that are shown on the SDOHMIc 4K image. Well to the SE of AR13329, barely north of the equator I see a single small pore. Nothing is labeled there. To the WSW of AR13329 lies a single large pore. It's all that I can see of AR13330. Just NNE of it lies the well formed spot of AR13326. It shows both an umbra and penumbra. I can see a light bridge within it at 72x. Both of these systems are just east of the Central Longitudinal Meridian. AR13320 shows itself as a small spot in the NW quadrant approaching the limb. At 72x I can see a pore just ENE of it. Very near the limb, west of AR13320 I can see the faculae of AR13325. Just north of AR13325 I can see the faculae and a tiny spot/pore associated with AR13324. This pore is very close to the limb and took me a few minutes to find/see. It was only visible at 72x and was difficult and only visible at moments of better seeing. SDOHMIc 4K shows it as two close together. I was probably not resolving them and seeing them as one.

AR13321 is an easy large spot in the SW quadrant and shows it's umbra-penumbra form easily. I can see a light bridge in the umbra at 72x and can hint some mottling in the penumbra. A tiny dark pore is at it's NNE extremity. AR13323 is a large scattered spot/pore group just NE of AR13321. Two of these show penumbrae. AR13327 in the SE quadrant somewhat resembles AR13323 in the SW quadrant but has more spots. I see possible growth and flaring in this one! AR13331 in the far SE shows itself as two spots and a pore. The lead western spot shows an irregular-shaped umbra surrounded bu a penumbra. It's the groups largest spot. Just to its east lies a pore. The trailing eastern spot is smaller but still shows it's umbra-penumbra structure. Faculae can be seen here. NNW of AR13331 lies an unnumbered small spot among faculae that is just south of the equator.

The fine granulation texture of the photosphere is noted.

Carpe Lumen!

James

👍🏻. Finished capturing images for 3 different animations this morning from 90 - 45 minutes each. Didn’t notice a lot of action but I’ll know better when some processing is done.

James:
Thanks for the complete report.
Had a chance to image a few shots, looks like we all have bad weather and seeing conditions.
Best regards and wish you et al a nice sunny weekend.
Eric.
