When I posted a fox picture a couple of days ago, Alexandra commented that it looked much different than the foxes in the UK. So I thought I would post a few more pictures to provide a better look. These are gray foxes, common in North America.

Re: More fox pictures
Hi Kevin...
Great pics of the fox visiting your yard !
I don't see the Gray ones you have, but frequently see the Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) here. There is a den of them most years a mile down the road from the house and I see them many mornings going into work.

Re: More fox pictures
She looks like she has young and she does look very different to ours, with such a bushy tail and dark spot on her face.
It seems we have the same fox as Brian in Canada, the Red fox, I didn't know we had the same species intercontinental looks like from the distribution map the Red fox lives everywhere The Gray fox only lives in the USA.

Re: More fox pictures
Yes, they must have a den pretty nearby. It's unusual to see them during daylight, but we figure she's probably looking for extra food for the youngsters. I hope she brings them by some time!Montana wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 7:19 am She looks like she has young and she does look very different to ours, with such a bushy tail and dark spot on her face.

We've never seen a red fox here, just the gray. Their tails are quite extravagant!
