Firecapture 2.7 and SSSMon plugin
Hi Folks,
has anyone else had issues with FC 2.7 and the SSSMon plugin (v0.92)? I can't get it to connect to my SSM (ERROR: Port not available).
I have tried various ports with no change in result and I have removed all "historical" connections for it in device manager.
The SSM is working and connects to the standalone SSMon app ok
FC 2.7 works ok with the plugin SolarMonitor v-1.6 by Paul De Backer
The plugin also works fine in FC 2.5
Thinking it's a bug in FC 2.7 (or the plugin needs updating for 2.7) but I thought I'd check here first in case I am missing something obvious.
Rob.

Sorry, can't help. I've not used my SSm for a while now.

Re: Firecapture 2.7 and SSSMon plugin
Hi Nick,
that only applies to the DIY version of an SSM, I use the AiryLab version which doesn't need the "special firmware". I used it successfully on previous versions of FC. I now just use the Solar Monitor plugin by Paul De Backer which does a similar job.
I had forgotten about this post but I will send Torsten an email to see if he can help as I am not sure if Joachim is still developing his SSM plugin.
Cheers,
Rob.

Re: Firecapture 2.7 and SSSMon plugin
I’m having the same issue as Rob where I keep getting the “port not available” message.
Any advice?
I’m using the Airylab device with Firecap

Re: Firecapture 2.7 and SSSMon plugin
Hi David,
I would recommend sending an email to Torsten at firecapture http://www.firecapture.de to report this,
if he gets enough reports it may get fixed or at least identify the cause (which may of course be the plugin).
In the meantime i'd recommend the Solar Monitor plugin by Paul De Backer.

Re: Firecapture 2.7 and SSSMon plugin
I spoke with Torsten in regards to this. and he said it is a known issue with v2.7. He said he contacted Joachim but got no response. The only fix for now is to use v2.6

Hi,
I've got the same issue with FC2.7.
I hope Torsten will be able to solve the problem.

Re: Firecapture 2.7 and SSSMon plugin
Don't think Torsten can solve that. It is a problem with the plugin trying to open the port. There seems to have been a change in Java causing this.
Either Joachim has to solve this or switch to my plugin (should still work) https://github.com/paul-db/SolarMonitor

Could you give some directions on how to install the plugin ? I am afraid I have not found an instruction file.
Thanks !

Re: Firecapture 2.7 and SSSMon plugin
Hi Christian,
There is a pdf file with the complete manual and installation guide.
You'll find it at the releases page: https://github.com/paul-db/SolarMonitor/releases
For windows: download and install Latest r'elease.
After unzipping that file in the firecapture plugin folder, also dowload Plugln1-6-5.zip and overwrite the jar file in the firecapture folder.
(never tested it on W11, so don't know if it will be working on W11)
Salutations,
Paul

Thanks for your work on this plugin Paul, I have been using it for the last year and it works very well.PDB wrote: ↑Sun Apr 16, 2023 4:43 pm Don't think Torsten can solve that. It is a problem with the plugin trying to open the port. There seems to have been a change in Java causing this.

Re: Firecapture 2.7 and SSSMon plugin
Dear all,
Slowly resurrecting my solar observation activity after years, I haven't posted here for a long time
I'm currently proceeding to the update of the acquisition software, moving to FC only now that Genika is only minimally maintained and will not allow to use the PlayerOne cameras driver. The main drawback I discovered is the problem discussed in this thread, i.e., the impossibility to use AiryLab's SSM measurements as triggering source for the automated acquisition in FC2.7.
The solution of using
https://github.com/paul-db/SolarMonitor
seems unfortunately out of date: the "paul-db" github account and subsequent repo cannot be found anymore (at least I could not find it).
Would someone know where is that plugin now stored (if still available somewhere)?
All the best,
Simon

Seconded, can't find Paul's download and FC2.7 and SSM plugin cannot cooperate...SimonDV wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 11:55 am Dear all,
