KSO Saturday. May 18 2024. SUNoculars!

Post by DeepSolar64 »

This morning I am again under cloudy skies so I accessed the KSO high cadence feed to check out the Sun and found it still up and running. Here are the images from that time.

***Addition****
This afternoon around 20:45 UTC I finally got a brief clearing between the high altocumulus clouds and got a view using my Lunt 8x32 WL solar binoculars. I was able to see six active regions on the photospheric solar disc. One region in the northern hemisphere and five in the southern hemisphere. All labeled.

AR13682 in the northern hemisphere was very difficult though I was pretty sure I could detect it. I could never clearly see two spots though. In the southern hemisphere I could see AR13683 as two spots in the SW quadrant. One spot, the southernmost one, is the easiest. To the NE of AR13683 lies AR13674. This one was seen as a very easy single spot. AR13679 was seen as a region that was straddling the CLM in the southern hemisphere. The lead spot was very easy. I could also see a " caboose " spot. The ones between them could be detected but yet not clearly resolved individually. The SE quadrant showed AR13685 as three easy spots. A fourth could be hinted at. Just to the NE of AR13685 I could see an easy single spot that was associated with AR13686.

Carpe Lumen!

James

Mark,
You are the opposite of me. I have had clouds and rain. Good luck with the post-processing.
