On the sun on May 19

Post by gabrieli »

It’great to be back to imaging.

A very active sun presented itself today. I used an LS60MT double stacked with an LS60F up front and Baader 2.3x barlow on the back producing a very compact system. I noticed all last year that the friction control that engaged the fine focus would sometimes become inactive. Adjusting the set screws resulted in slippage or produced a very stiff movement. In a stroke of good luck (desperation), I noticed that the focuser slot on the back end of my LS80(non MT) was the same as my LS60MT(3 inch diameter) and that the focusers are interchageable. That fixed the problem for now while I try to fix the original LS60MT focuser.

I took some full disks using 2 panels for each and some close ups using ROI .

Nice shots Lou! Good luck with the mechanics of the focuser.
