Concentric circles for radie

Post by Rudi »

I saw someones Sun image, and it had concentric circles showing the radius from centre of the sun, projected onto the surface and some further out at a fixed km interval. I cant find the picture again, but I wondered, is there some dedicated software for this? Or is it just a prefabricated image with the details and transparent background, that is overlayed the image?
And off course, I have searched the internet and SolarChat!, but with no success (I'm not always that good at coming up with good Google search terme  )

I think what you are looking for is Regle Solaire, the solar ruler.

I did spent hours relooking for the page as it disappeared and and found it somewhere else. Now where did I find it!

Is it called “Regle Solaire”?
The links on the page you link to, doesn’t seem to work.

I tried googling “Regle Solaire”, but end up with at lot of irrelevant sites.

Perhaps the site has moved?

TbH this sound like a fun little software project.

If you two can't find this other software anymore hit me up i might find some cloudy free time to implement something like this again in golang so you can use it on windows and linux :)

Lunt LS60 or (Baader D-ERF -> Bresser Messier AR152L/1200 F8) -> Lunt LS60 etalon -> BF10 -> ASI462MM

Has anyone sent me a private message?
There is a concern elsewhere that they don't seem to be working ;)

I haven’t. But that’s because I’m extremely careful with what executables I run on my PC ;-)

If I get the time, which is doubtful, I will write my own C# code and share the source.

Hi Rudi,

It is just a PDF file, a template you open in Photoshop or GIMP. It is perfectly as safe as any PDF you open.

Thanks again Alexandra!

I gave it a shot in Affinity Photo, works great.
