Plan B

Post by solarchat »

Well, after several unsucessful attempts to upgrade the version of Kunena we are using for the forum to get the speed up to par, we have come to the conclusion that the software is jut too riddled with errors and bad coding to support an upgrade with so many posts and attachments.

The good news is that we have been working with a copy for some time now and have never actually touched the working version. The version we are all still using is fast and appears to be working fine except for a slight posting delay on new posts. Everything else is lighting fast.

The bad news is that we cant get it to work.

We are moving on to paid versions of either vBulletin or phpBB with support.

Please stand by with the 10-20 second posting delays a little longer.

Whatever you have done has improved the posting a great deal, it used to be 90-120 seconds regularly, now it is around 20 seconds :thanx:

My little idea was deleted, could you do like Cloudy Nights and archive everything but the last 1000 posts to keep the site moving quicker? Nothing is lost as those posts can still be accessed in the search.

Just thought would give you an update Stephen; still takes me 10 seconds plus to post new posts / reply to a post, however if I edit a post to insert an image then this is instant...
