A different PST Mod

A different PST Mod

Since I will be using my PST etalons in stage 2 mods I decided to use the golden tube and black box in a different mod. I changed the BF (BF10 for the original BF5) and fitted a Pre-Meade Coronado SM40 in front of the PST objective (that is rusted by the way). It works fine and I have another solar telescope for outreach sessions. Focus can be reached if the eyepiece is closer to the PST black box (the spacer has to be removed).

Thanks, appreciate your comments

It would be better if I had a non rusted PST objective though

You may be able to find a replacement, 40mm x 400mm is a very common part! You can get one specific to red light to match performance. Should ge a simple swap out

https://www.newport.com/p/PAC085AR.14 Here is a start. Pop out the pst lens for an accurate measure. If its rusted dont be afraid, its already in bad shape.
