Post by Carbon60 » Sun Sep 23, 2018 7:03 pm

A minor geomagnetic storm was captured on my magnetometer this weekend.

The source was southerly magnetically oriented, fast flowing, solar wind from a coronal hole. It just goes to show that you don't require CME's to create geomagnetic unrest. Even a spotless, Sun can be geo-effective, creating beautiful aurora around the poles.

Thanks for looking.

Minor but still worth viewing on your monitor, I think we need a bigger one to spot it naked eye though :)

Thanks for your comments, Mark and Alexandra.

These coronal holes keep on coming. You never know what the next one's going to bring.
