i temporarily mounted the 6.3" f/10 test objective into an 8" aluminum tube I had purchased about 10 years ago.

I know very little information about this achromat, what i do know is that this is more than 30 years old and was manufactured in the Ukraine.

Here is a nice look at my neighbors lamp without any eyepieces from my ipad.

6.3" x 1600mm f/10 magnesium fluoride coating.. Not one hint of purple fringe or coma. I couldnt be happier! This thing is clearly going to be a sun-killer

So this is what I chose for my refocus assembly. It is a made in china scope that I got for almost nothing on ebay! The focuser is total garbage but It will totally serve its purpose, all I cared about was the objective. It has 103mm threads on the lens cell and I have a downsizer ring to mount the ls50c modkit directly to these ota threads. I have the ota' mounted on a sliding platform , so adjustment of the final image distance will be less of a hassle.

This donor scope is 90mm x 500mm. It was not easy finding a cheap scope that will equal exactly f/10 at 50mm.
The way this is going to function; when the etalon modkit is threaded to this scope it will operate at f/10. The etalon will restrict the aperture , stopped down to the 50mm etalon size.. Eventually i may have the option to directly double stack this using a ls60tha because that scope also operates at f/10 when the ls50c is attached.

The collimating lens, being 50mm x -500mm f/10, will be directly threaded to the modkit face.


It is proving difficult building a truss assembly parts without a mill! Total cost of the "usable" optical system parts so far, not including the etalon and not including the baader Tz-3 is $670.00

160mm f/10 objective, 50mm f/10 donor scope, f/10 -500mm collimator + lens cell, 75mm baader d-er. Four 20/20 aluminum extrusion pieces(but i will only be using 3).
