WoW! Very nice high resolution view of the spicule layer lying above the photosphere.

Excellent images, Alessandro. Your seeing conditions must have been very stable to capture this level of detail with a large scope.

Superb images Ale. You should definitely keep hold of this scope, your seeing regularly supports the aperture so you should make the most of it.

Alessandro,
What make is your big refractor? The only manufacturer I know of that makes a truss tube refractor is Lunt and it's a 300mm! Have you ever been able to use it full aperture on the sun? I noticed that you use a 110mm D-ERF over the aperture. A 228 ERF would be really expensive and seeing would rarely allow the use of 228mm of aperture at high power. I bet this big 228 does wonderfully on the night sky!?

James, you can see the 228 refractor ota in the following link: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=26691
As you can see, the 110 DERF is installed in the middle of the tube.
This ota was made by an Italian friend of mine.
I've tried it in the night time too. The optical quality is very good but you need a huge mount for it like a AP900 or Cem120 or GM2000
