At Willis Observatory we have the Lunt 152, which is advertised as a research grade telescope. I am looking for information on the types of research that might be conducted on our Lunt 152.
We offer free admission to the observatory to students, teachers, and artists in four counties. We have 2 PHD's on our staff, one of whom is responsible for outreach to universities. While students may have their own research interests, we wanted to have suggestions available for research on all our scopes.
If you have any ideas for research on our PlaneWave20, Astro-Physics 175, Astro-Physics 140, and Takahashi 300 that info will also be appreciated.
Thank you for your help,

Re: Research suggestions
The question is, what are you interested in? what question do you think needs answering. You need to think of a hypothesis and then put it to the test using your equipment. This is a great discussion to have with your PhD students and this will help them in their future when they become the next group leaders. All part of the PhD training
It is great to hear about your outreach

Re: Research suggestions
I think they just call it 'research grade' because it's one of their biggest scopes
University of Hawaii use one on the top of the mountain, but not sure exactly what for.

Re: Research suggestions
Hello,
Regarding solar observation in Ha, there is an excellent long term observation program, this is monitoring the variation of the "prolateness/height" of the chomosphere along the solar cycle. It's even better if you can do it also in Ca K.
This is a bit challenging as far as observation and data processing is concerned. Still, this is doable for motivated students.
It involves developing some software to analyse the images.
It you are interested, I can give more information.
