A bright flare in AR2838 3rd July

Post by Stardust5858 »

Hi all, just one frame as yet from what I think may be a flare in AR2838 at 14:31-14:34. Apologies for size of image as straight from the dome unprocessed frames. Cloud's covered just after so no chance of further captures.

Congratulations, it looks as though you caught the first X1 flare of this solar cycle from a new sunspot that has just emerged according to Spaceweather.

Cool John, that's great info. I was rather surprised as only half hour before there was nothing. Lucky chance before the clouds covered.

Ella:
You got the flare, congratulations.
I have received many Flare alerts since yesterday from the SWS (Australian flare alerts).
Wish you have a nice and sunny weekend, I am clouded since weeks.
Best regards.
Eric.

Thanks Eric, read the report on spaceweather, yep, exactly the same time frame. I'm really excited I caught it.
