Aurora and Geomagnetic Unrest 27/28th July 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

A coronal hole on the Sun is spewing fast flowing solar wind which arrived over night on the 28th (Universal Time) spawning beautiful aurora, as photographed by Joel Weatherly from near Edmonton, Canada.

My magnetometer picked up the geomagnetic disturbance from here in the UK. The event wasn't particularly strong, but produced beautiful aurora nevertheless.

And including the "Blue" aurora too - quite rare.

Thanks Stu

Good magnetic record of the event Stu! Looking forward to more geomagnetic unrest as the solar cycle progresses.

Many thanks Terry, Mark and Alexandra.

All quiet again……magnetic and visible. :(
